Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro Firewire Interface with Pro Tools Le Software (Factory Bundle with Digidesign/ Review

..but it’s a challenge and one you must be up to. I feel the pain of the previous post. Pro Tools was the most difficult and non-intuitive software install I have ever performed. I rue the day I have to re-install for any reason. Even once it’s up and running the depth and complexity of Pro Tools isn’t for the faint of heart. But once you begin to use it and understand it you find yourself thinking in new ways because the program’s power invites you to do so.

I’ve been a CoolEdit/Adobe Audition user for years and while AA (even 2.0) is easy to understand it’s also very limiting in scope. Pro Tools can take you places you’ve never considered going. It gets into your head like a great PC game or a good book; you just keep wanting to explore.
I suggest getting Pro Tools 7 Power: The Comprehensive Guide and Pro Tools LE7: Ignite, both available here at Amazon. You’ll also need a basic understanding of studio recording or at least know someone who does.
Having these assets in hand before beginning is very helpful.

Becoming a Pro Tools user is taking a step into a larger world. Best you be up for it.

History Recording Studio Software

28 02 2010

If the computers find their way into houses that were used for all types of tasks active. The audio recording was no exception. Before the music software applications have been promising, but from the perspective of today, were very modest. This is due to the limitations of the computer at this time. Now we have two main strands of personal computing: PC and MAC. Both are used in professional recording studio, with plenty of complex software applications.

The year 1980 was very importantTen years for music production and recording. MIDI has begun to surface, introduced Yamaha DX7 synthesizer, sampler, Akai S1000 as some very popular, and the first application software for the music written for microcomputers became popular at that time. Several were the sequencer software for the Commodore C64, written Sinclair ZX Spectrum and Apple II. A new breakthrough was the Macintosh computer with a graphical user interface. E 'was widowed with icons and mouse. Developed Mark of the Unicorn Performer, first sequencer for Macintosh.

For the history of MIDI sequencers Atari ST was also important. Designed as a computer game with a graphical user interface is also characterized MIDI I / O, and was cheaper Mac Steinberg Cubase and Emagic Notator were originally developed for the Atari ST.

First applications of PC software were Cakewalk MIDI sequencer and musical notation package SCORE. But at this point the first PCs with Windows is not stable as in those days, and many musicians preferenceMac Software for the CODA Finale appeared in late 1980. Notator Cubase and also on Mac and PC platform porting.

In 1989, Digidesign introduced the first hard disk audio recording systems, audio tools. E 'was used a two-recorder / editor with the software Q-sheet. 1990 was the first MIDI and audio sequencer, was introduced. It 'been Opcode Studio Vision, and uses the tools of Digidesign audio hardware audio. 4-channel Pro Tools, published in 1992. There werea microcomputer not so popular, the Acorn Archimedes, with an interesting software called Sibelius. It 'been a letter to clients that the package has been ported to Mac and PC. Later in the 90s Cubase VST (Steinberg) and Logic Audio (Emagic), both functions implements the notation.

Computers have become faster with more RAM and hard disk so that the next trend is the multitrack recording. Steinberg has worked MIDI + audio sequencers such as Cubase VST (Virtual Studio Technology). Third-party developersWelcomes the plug-in operation and has created a new market. Emagic, Mark of the Unicorn also accepted the plug-in concept. Introduced in 1990 kHz 64-track Pro Tools MIX with 16/24 bit audio at 44.1 or 48. At that time, Cubase VST, Logic Audio and Pro Tools are all on the PC platform.

Introduced in 1999, Steinberg Nuendo. Offered 96 kHz recording and 5.1 surround sound. Pro Tools Surround Sound offers in 2002. At that time, was a Pro Tools for ProfessionalSoftware Studio. Proven Pro Tools 5.1, which is capable of receiving MIDI sequences and audio tracks. The interface is simple and powerful, both for recording, editing and sound mixing. At the same time the most popular sequencer Logic Audio on the Mac platform Digidesign Pro Tools HD was introduced (at 96/192 kHz sampling) in 2002, when the new operating system Mac OS X are available. Cubase SX and Logic Audio were being released for OS X. Pro Tools 6.0for OSX will be available in 2003.

Some ownership changes also occurred: Digidesign was acquired by Avid, Sony bought Sonic Foundry, Emagic was purchased by Apple, Adobe acquired Syntrillium's Cool Edit Pro software and changed its name in Adobe Audition and Steinberg was acquired Pinnacle. Now all the leading recording studio software will run on popular platforms, PC and Mac And stability is no longer a problem.

One of the main actors in the professional audio recordingyet Digidesign Pro Tools. There are three versions of Pro Tools, which share the same user interface and file format. The main difference is the hardware complement them. Pro Tools | HD Elite runs on DSP-based Pro Tools | HD hardware and is used mainly in professional circles, with Pro Tools LE for Home Studios works with a variety of Digidesign hardware including the Mbox 2 family, and Pro Tools M-Powered offers other options, visitCompatibility with dozens of M-Audio interfaces. Some sound engineers, producers and remixers Pro Tools hardware with third-party software instead of the original Pro Tools software.

Computers and software for recording and production are inevitable. We can not imagine working with tapes and analog mixer. The digital audio signal processing, elevated to a new level. Personal computers developed to a level where everyone can afford a recording studio at home. CheapHard disk drives allow us to add an unlimited number of songs at any sampling frequency. Audio recording has never been so easy. There are also some disadvantages of this new technology. You can compress music and make it slightly stronger than the destruction of the original dynamism and life they had originally. CD-neckline is very popular. However, the benefits of computer use in recording studios are huge. You need the right software and some expertise.
